Airbnb Guest Reviews
On Airbnb, the review process works both ways -- guests review you, and you review your guests. Submitting guest reviews is important for the Airbnb community and can improve your standing as a host. With hejGuide, you can write and submit Airbnb guest reviews directly from your dashboard without logging into Airbnb.
When to submit a guest review
After an Airbnb booking ends, you have 14 days to submit a review of your guest. Airbnb's review system is double-blind -- neither review is visible until both parties have submitted theirs, or until the 14-day window closes.
TIP
Submit your guest reviews promptly. Consistent reviewing builds your reputation as an active host on Airbnb, and your review helps other hosts make informed decisions about accepting future bookings from that guest.
How to submit a guest review
- Go to Reviews in the sidebar.
- Find the Airbnb booking you want to review. Bookings that are eligible for a guest review will show a Write Guest Review button.
- Click Write Guest Review. A four-step wizard opens to guide you through the review.
Your progress is saved as you go, so you can close the wizard and pick up where you left off.
Step 1 -- Rate the guest
Rate your guest on three categories, each on a scale of 1 to 5 stars:
- Cleanliness -- How clean did the guest leave your property?
- Communication -- How responsive and clear was the guest in their communication?
- House Rules -- Did the guest follow your house rules?
On the same step, set whether you would host this guest again (a simple Yes / No that factors into Airbnb's guest reputation system). All three ratings and the recommendation are required before you can continue.
Step 2 -- Pick what stood out (optional)
The wizard then offers a set of quick tags grouped by the three categories -- for example "Neat and tidy", "Helpful messages", or "Stayed past checkout". The tags shown match the ratings you gave (positive tags for high scores, concerns for low scores). Select any that fit, or skip this step entirely -- it's optional.
Step 3 -- Write your public review
Write the public review that will be visible on the guest's Airbnb profile. Be honest but fair, and focus on facts and your experience hosting them. If AI assist is available on your plan, a Suggest with AI button (wand icon) can draft this text for you to review and edit. Public review text is required to continue.
Step 4 -- Private feedback and review
Optionally add private feedback -- this is sent only to the guest and is not visible publicly. Use it for constructive notes you would rather not post publicly. This final step also shows a summary of your ratings, recommendation, tags, and review, with Edit links back to any earlier step. If the guest's language differs from yours, you'll see a preview of the translated text that will be sent.
When you're happy with everything, submit your review to Airbnb through the Channel Manager. Once submitted, the review cannot be edited or retracted.
WARNING
Guest reviews are permanent once submitted. Take a moment to re-read your review before clicking submit. Make sure it is fair, factual, and something you are comfortable having associated with your host profile.
Writing fair guest reviews
- Be honest. Your review helps other hosts. If a guest was great, say so. If there were issues, mention them factually.
- Be specific. Instead of "the guest was messy," try "the guest left the kitchen with unwashed dishes and food spills on the counter."
- Be proportional. Minor issues do not need to be mentioned if the overall stay was positive. Save detailed feedback for significant matters.
- Use private feedback for sensitive topics. If something was borderline or you want to give the guest a chance to improve, put it in the private feedback rather than the public review.
Review status
After submitting, the review entry on the Reviews page will show that your guest review has been sent. Remember that the review will only become visible on Airbnb once the guest has also submitted their review of you, or after the 14-day review window closes.
