Search & Keyboard Shortcuts
hejGuide includes a powerful global search and keyboard shortcuts to help you navigate the dashboard quickly without reaching for the mouse.
Global search
The search bar is located in the top bar of the dashboard. It searches across all your data -- reservations, listings, guidebooks, messages, tasks, issues, products, reviews, and more.
How to use search
- Click the search bar in the top bar, or press / on your keyboard to focus it instantly.
- Start typing your query. Results appear as you type, grouped by category.
- Use Arrow keys to navigate through results, then press Enter to open the selected item.
- Press Escape to close the search results.
What you can search for
Search works across 13 different entity types:

TIP
Search results are permission-aware -- you will only see results from modules that are included in your subscription plan.
Autocomplete suggestions
As you type, the search bar shows ghost text suggestions. These help you discover pages and actions faster:
- Page names -- Type "cal" to see "Calendar" suggested, then press Tab or Right arrow to accept.
- Quick actions -- Type "new res" to see "new reservation" suggested.
- Listing names -- Type the first few letters of a property name.
The autocomplete also works with fuzzy matching, so minor typos like "calnedar" will still suggest "Calendar".
Quick actions
Search doubles as a command palette for common actions. Type action keywords to see available quick actions:
- "new reservation" or "add booking" -- Create a new reservation (optionally for a specific listing).
- "new task" or "add task" -- Create a new task.
- "report issue" -- Report a housekeeping issue.
When a quick action supports listing selection, the search will show your listings so you can pick the right property directly.
Context-aware results
Search results are prioritized based on the page you are currently viewing. For example:
- On the Calendar page, reservations appear first.
- On the Tasks page, tasks and issues are prioritized.
- On the Messages page, message results come first.
Pages you are already on are excluded from the "Go to" navigation suggestions, since you are already there.
Navigation
Search also lets you jump to any page in the dashboard. Type a page name like "settings", "reports", or "housekeeping" and you will see a "Go to" section at the top of the results with a direct link.
Keyboard shortcuts
Press ? at any time to see the available keyboard shortcuts. The following shortcuts work from anywhere in the dashboard (as long as you are not typing in an input field):

TIP
Keyboard shortcuts are disabled when you are typing in a text field, textarea, or dropdown to avoid accidental triggers.
