Translations
hejGuide translates automatically in two separate places, and you control each one independently from Account Settings → Translations:
- Your inbox — incoming guest messages are translated into your own language so you can read and reply quickly.
- Your guest pages — your guidebook, local guide, products and reviews appear to each guest in their language.
Translation is part of a paid plan. If your plan doesn't include it, the toggles are shown but disabled.
In your inbox
When Auto-translate incoming messages is on, a message from a guest in a language you don't speak appears in your inbox in your own language, with the original text kept underneath. Messages already in one of the languages you speak are never translated — you see them as-is.
Turn it off if you'd rather read every message in its original language.
TIP
The first language in Languages you speak is your primary language. Draft replies are written in that language, and your reply is translated to the guest's language when you send it.
On your guest pages
This is a simple choice: let hejGuide translate your guest pages automatically, or translate them yourself.
When Auto-translate guest pages is on, your guidebook pages, local-guide tips, product descriptions and other guest-facing content appear to each guest in their own language — no extra work for you.
When it's off, you're in charge: guests see the original language, except for the parts you've translated yourself.
TIP
Anything you translate yourself always wins — it's shown whether auto-translate is on or off, and it's never overwritten. So turning auto-translate off never loses your own work; you can switch it back on at any time.
Languages you speak
These are the languages you're comfortable reading. Messages already in one of them aren't auto-translated.
- The first language is your primary language — used for draft replies and as the source for outgoing translation.
- Click the star on any other language to make it primary.
- Add or remove languages at any time; you need at least one for auto-translate to work.
Words to keep untranslated
The terms you list here are never translated. This is useful for brand names, vacation-home nicknames, or local terms you want to keep exactly — for example "Villa Serena", "The Boathouse", or "paella".
Your listing property names are protected automatically, so you only need to add the extras. Type a word and press Enter; you can add up to 100.
Translation quota
Each plan includes a monthly translation allowance. When usage gets high you'll see a warning on this page. If you reach 100%, new translations pause until the next month — translations you already have keep working as normal.
Who can change these settings
Only the workspace owner can change translation settings. Cohosts can see them but not edit them.
