Creating a Listing
This guide walks you through every step of creating a new property listing in hejGuide. A listing is your property's profile -- it contains all the information guests need and connects to your calendar, rates, and bookings.
Start a new listing
- Click Listings in the sidebar.
- Click the Add Listing button.
- You'll land on the new-listing page. At the top is a Import from Airbnb shortcut -- the fastest way to set up, since it pulls in your content automatically. To enter details by hand instead, use the three-step wizard below it.
TIP
If your property is already on Airbnb, try the import first -- it saves a lot of typing. See Import from Airbnb.
A note on cost
Adding a listing isn't always free. Before the form opens, hejGuide checks your plan:
- If the listing is included in your plan, the wizard opens straight away.
- If it's a billable extra, you'll see the monthly price and can choose to continue.
- If you've hit your plan's listing limit, you'll be pointed to upgrade or set up billing first.
Step 1: Basic info
- Property name (required) -- A clear, descriptive name. This is how the property appears throughout hejGuide -- on your calendar, in bookings, in reports, and in guest communications. For example: "Seaside Villa with Pool" or "Downtown Studio Apartment".
- Property type -- Pick the type that best matches your place: apartment, house, villa, cabin, cottage, chalet, bungalow, studio, loft, room, bed & breakfast, boat, or other.
- Description -- A short summary of the property. You can flesh this out later on the listing's General tab.
- Address (required) -- Street address, postal code, city, and country. State / province is optional.
TIP
Write your description from the guest's perspective. Focus on what they'll enjoy during their stay, not just a list of features.
Step 2: Accommodation
Set the size and capacity of your property:
- Max guests (required) -- The maximum number of guests the property can accommodate.
- Bedrooms (required) -- The total number of bedrooms.
- Bathrooms (required) -- The total number of bathrooms (half baths allowed, e.g. 1.5).
Step 3: Check-in
Set the arrival and stay basics:
- Check-in time -- The earliest time guests can arrive (defaults to 15:00).
- Check-out time -- When guests must leave (defaults to 11:00).
- Minimum nights -- The shortest stay you'll accept (defaults to 1).
Click Create listing to finish. You'll be taken to the listing detail page, where you can continue adding information:
- Upload photos
- Set the address & map location
- Select amenities
- Add check-in instructions
- Set house rules
- Configure payment settings
WARNING
The wizard collects the essentials. We strongly recommend completing the other tabs -- especially photos, amenities, and pricing -- before you start accepting bookings.
What to do after creating a listing
Once your listing is created and filled in, the next steps are:
- Set up rates -- Go to Rates & Pricing to define your nightly price, minimum stay, and any seasonal adjustments.
- Open your calendar -- Visit the Calendar to see your listing's availability and start accepting bookings.
- Configure emails -- Set up automated emails so guests receive booking confirmations and check-in instructions automatically.
